Hi!

Upcoming?

Hello!

I moved to Helsinki about 3 weeks ago and brought 2 of my bikes with me, one of them fixed gear. Just found this forum after standing on my balcony and seeing a group of people on fixed/ss bikes go past. Was tempted to shout “do a skid!” but realised that is a LFGSS.com thing so wasn’t sure how it would go down here

Be interested in joining in some rides, although first need to get some 28mm tyres as 23mm on the bumpy and gravelly streets and cyclepaths of Helsinki isn’t proving too easy.

The local shoutout is "Täysii!", stands for 'full speed'. Your welcome to try it out next time ;)

25mm gatorskin is the gold standard

28mm gatorskins or gator hardshells are what you want. 25mm available ofc. Orders from evancycles, crc etc takes about a week

Or go crazy and support the LBS! Urheiluaitta and Pelago should have Schwalbe Durano. Instead of a week, takes about 2 minutes to get them ;)

Kiitos - Gatorskins are kind of not an option as my bike is black and white, and adding brown sidewalled tyres to it would be a terrible disgrace

Duranos would be spot on. Also looking at Conti Supersport Plus City. Anyone know a good shop where I can get these? And will any of them be open this weekend?

Everything being closed this weekend is really screwing me up! Moved into my apartment last weekend and don’t have most of my basic furniture including curtains and light fittings - was looking forwards to getting all that sorted tomorrow :frowning:

The lbs’s has usually duranos, but don’t know about contis tyres. I’d still go for a gatorskin. It’s just a scene choise here and no one cares if you have the brown sidewalls
